Cancelling after a death

Following a death, the deceased's policies must be cancelled by the relatives.

Key deadline

On receipt of the death certificate.

You can cancel the deceased's basic and supplementary insurance by informing the insurers, usually with a copy of the death certificate. Premiums paid after the date of death are refunded. Take your time: this is an administrative deadline, not an urgent one.

Good to know

A single letter per insurer is often enough: state the policyholder number and the date of death.
