KLuG supplementary

Cancelling your KLuG supplementary health insurance

Deadline, notice period and process to cancel your supplementary insurance (LCA) with KLuG, without any unwanted automatic renewal.

Cancelling your KLuG supplementary health insurance

The KLuG supplementary health insurance falls under the Insurance Contract Act (LCA): its cancellation period and expiry are set by your general terms, not by the basic insurance law. The general logic, however, remains the same as for other insurers: a notice period to respect and an expiry, most often at the end of the calendar year.

Cancellation period with {nom}

Refer to the general terms of your KLuG contract for the exact notice period and expiry. Many supplementary policies provide for several months' notice before an expiry set on 31 December. It is the date KLuG receives the letter that counts: send your cancellation in advance.

Cancel with KLuG in 3 steps

  1. 1

    Gather the information

    Find your KLuG policy number on your invoice or certificate, and check the expiry and notice period in your general terms.

  2. 2

    Write the letter

    State your details, the policy number, the branch (supplementary health) and the desired effective date. An ordinary cancellation does not need to be justified.

  3. 3

    Send with proof

    Address the letter to the right department and send it early enough, ideally by registered post. Keep the receipt in case of a dispute over the date.

Good to know

Do not confuse cancelling your KLuG supplementary (LCA) with cancelling your basic insurance (LAMal): these are two separate contracts, with different timelines.
